Southeastern Iowa Spoonfest

Southeastern Iowa Spoonfest

Southeastern Iowa Spoonfest to be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 & 9 from 10am until 4pm each day in Central Park in Fort Madison, Iowa. This year’s Southeastern Iowa Spoonfest will offer full-day and half-day spoon carving classes instructed by Nicholas Wazeegale of the Driftless Folk School

In addition to the carving classes, there will be booths with wares for sale with ongoing carving demonstrations during the weekend. Hand carvers from throughout the state and region are welcome to come carve.

A full-day spoon carving class is available 9am to 4pm on Saturday, June 8. Learn about the wood types best for carving, different techniques involved to prep the wood, and then learn to carve your own spoon. A shorter carving class on Sunday afternoon just teaches the basics of carving.

Food vendors will be on hand both days at our beautiful Central Park as you take in booths of hand carved wares, demonstrations of spoon carving, or wander past any other carvers who may be on hand.
