The Art Sisters are featured in the first exhibition at Monmouth College
Monmouth College’s first art exhibition of the 2026–27 academic year, “artWORKlife,” features The Art Sisters, a group of six women artists who have collaborated and critiqued one another’s work since 2012.
The artists—Janis Mars Wunderlich Minor, Chris Dokolasa, Lori Reed, Mary Schuytema, Linda Sickmon, and Rae Standard—draw inspiration from their friendship and shared creative experiences.
Their work spans ceramics, mixed media, photography, and visual storytelling. Several artists use clay to explore nature, design, functionality, and personal growth, while Minor creates narrative works combining human, animal, and plant forms. Reed creates digitally altered mixed-media pieces that blend animals, including birds, with Impressionist paintings.
Overall, the exhibition highlights how friendship, mutual support, personal experiences, and artistic collaboration can shape both individual creative practices and a shared artistic community.
