The Cottage Auditions
The Cottage Auditions
Prairie Players Civic Theatre is holding auditions for The Cottage, a fast-paced, delightfully outrageous comedy written by Sandy Rustin and directed by Jill Bradford on Sunday, September 27, from 2-4 PM and Monday, September 28, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Prairie Players Civic Theatre, 160 S. Seminary Street, Galesburg. We are looking for 3 women and 3 men, generally ranging from their 20s through 60s.
Productions are November 13-15 and 20-22 at Prairie Players Civic Theatre.
Set in the English countryside in 1923, The Cottage begins with a secret romantic rendezvous and quickly spirals into a hilarious web of infidelity, unexpected guests, shifting alliances, and revelations. The play is a romantic farce filled with sharp dialogue, surprising twists, and plenty of physical comedy.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Some characters require a British-sounding accent, so be prepared to give one a try—or at least be willing to play around with it. During auditions, we may also have some fun experimenting with different accents: German, Southern, Wisconsin... whatever you can do! You don't need to be an expert. We're interested in seeing what you can discover.
No prepared audition is required—but if you have a short monologue that helps you show off different voices or accents, you're welcome to bring one. Keep it to one minute or less. Come ready to read, experiment, take direction, and have some fun!
