Sandburg will recognize a longtime community leader as part of a Veterans Day event.

A Veterans Day tribute to Lomac Payton will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Graham Health System S+T Center Atrium on the Galesburg campus. A veteran of the Korean War, Payton is also a former member of the Galesburg City Council.

The event, coordinated by the Sandburg student leadership organization Men of Distinction, will honor Payton for his decades of service, leadership and contributions to the community. The program will feature tributes from community and government leaders as well as a special lifetime-of-service presentation. 

Dinner for the event will be catered by Tres Café. Attendees are asked to RSVP by Nov. 4. Reserve your spot here.
