Clark County, MO – The Clark County Courthouse has stood for about 140 years. The future of the structure, though, is in jeopardy.
Residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, Feb. 2 to decide whether the county should implement a cent sales tax. The money generated would be used to build a new courthouse.
Carla Derrick is part of a group working to save the courthouse. She says the building's history is a symbol of Kahoka and Clark County.
Derrick says architects and engineers have reviewed the courthouse from top to bottom. She says their ruling is that the structure is sound and usable.
Derrick says the building can be restored. She says a connecting annex would also be built.
