Jefferson City, MO – The District 1 seat in the Missouri House of Representatives is up for grabs on November 2.
Term limits are forcing incumbent Brian Munzlinger to run for the state senate.
Two people are vying to replace him and represent the northeast corner of Missouri in Jefferson City
Keri Cottrell (D-Canton) challenged Munzlinger in 2008. She lost the race, 39%-61%, but did not lose her desire to serve.
Cottrell teaches 4th grade in the Canton R-V School District. She says one of her top priorities would be to change the current school funding formula.
Cottrell says the dollar-value modifier needs to be eliminated because it harms rural school districts will benefiting urban districts.
Cottrell says she would also focus on agriculture, job creation, veterans affairs, and senior services.
