Macomb, IL – Don Wynn is seeking a full term as Alderman At Large on the Macomb City Council. He joined the city council after being chosen to fill an unexpired two-year term.

At the time, Wynn was on the park board. He says the experience of having served on both the park board and city council will be helpful as the two governmental bodies try to sort out pool-related issues.

Wynn says Macomb's biggest challenge is to increase its population.

"We're just gonna have to continue working with the tourism bureau and the schools and the university, and try to come up with some type of program or some type of recruitment that will encourage people to come here," says Wynn. "At this point we're just gonna have to keep working with the resources that we have."

Wynn says he initially opposed the half-cent sales tax hike referendum but now supports it. He says he's gotten a first-hand look at how the current half-cent is used to pay for street and bridge repairs. Wynn says the sales tax is the fairest way to generate money.

Wynn says he's honest and open with residents. He hopes to learn more about city government by serving another term.

Wynn is retired from Western Illinois University, where he worked at the Physical Plant. He now works a couple part-time jobs.
