Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally with Representative Mary Miller (R-IL), who is locked in a bitter primary race with another GOP incumbent, Representative Rodney Davis (R-IL).
The Trump rally will take place Saturday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Mendon, northeast of Quincy, the largest metropolitan area in the congressional district.
Miller and Davis are battling to represent Illinois Congressional District 15, which was redrawn by the Democratic-led Illinois General Assembly after the 2020 US Census. The district includes rural areas of Central Illinois. Its borders include the states of Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri. But it does not include the Democratic-leaning areas of Champaign, Decatur, and East St. Louis.
Trump endorsed Miller, which she has highly touted in commercials.
Miller has fully embraced Trump’s false claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. She voted against certifying the election results on January 6, 2021. Davis voted to certify those results.
Davis previously served as co-chairman on Trump’s re-election campaign. He responded with a press release.
“I’m proud of my conservative record of working with Trump when he was in office, and I won’t shy away from it.”
Miller or Davis will move onto the general election to face Paul Lange, a Democratic precinct committeeman from Quincy.
There’s no word if any gubernatorial candidates will appear at the rally.
