Jeff Holtz Playlist

Thank you for donating to Tri States Public Radio.  As promised here is the playlist curated for you by Jeff.  Enjoy!

This playlist, about an hour long, highlights work by some of the classic performers of the 1950s and 1960s without always being their best-known efforts. Abbey Lincoln’s fine version of “Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me”  stands up next to the one recent performance on the list, “This Bitter Earth”, from a recent recording by Veronica Swift.  There are two memorials, “Django” for Django Rinehardt,  and “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”, in memory of Lester Young. Anita O’Day’s “Song For My Father” is one of the few recordings of the Horace Silver classic that includes the lyrics, and the set closes with “On The Sunny Side Of The Street” by Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, and Sonny Stitt.  Fourteen selections with, I hope, something for everyone to enjoy – thanks!
