A small memorial stands outside the house in Macomb where two people died in a fire.

Macomb Police Chief Jerel Jones said investigators believe the fatal house fire on Friday morning, January 21, started accidentally.

The fire killed Tamara Sharp, age 40, and her infant daughter.

Authorities said preliminary autopsy results indicate the two died from inhaling the carbon monoxide created by the smoke.

Fire crews arriving on the scene at 1662 East Wheeler Circle found a fire in the kitchen area and heavy smoke throughout the home.

The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sharp was taken to McDonough District Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
