A Roseville man was indicted in a cold case homicide from McMinn County, Tennessee, that occurred more than 25 years ago.
Rodney E. Jackson, 53, was arrested by Illinois State Police and extradited to Tennessee for the murder of Barbara Danley Johnson.
He is charged with first degree murder.
Johnson’s body was found off the ramp of Interstate 75 in eastern Tennessee in November of 1996.
Johnson was 50 years old at the time of her death.
An autopsy determined her death was the result of a homicide, but the case went cold.
In August, agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation resubmitted evidence to a Nashville crime lab.
The renewed investigation and testing of evidence led to Jackson’s arrest.
Jackson is a registered sex offender in Illinois.
He was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child in McDonough County in 2009.
