Monica Corsaro

TSPR Friends Advisory Board Member

Reverend Doctor Monica Corsaro is the Settled Senior Pastor of Fairview Community Church in Costa Mesa. Her career combines traditional ministry and political activism, serving diverse communities in Washington State, Illinois, Colorado, and Southern California.

Before coming to Orange County, she led United Methodist and Christian Church, Disciples of Christ congregations in the Seattle area, and served a variety of higher education communities and settings, as campus minister at the University of Washington, chaplain of community engagement at Monmouth College, University Chaplain at Illinois Wesleyan, and Director of Spiritual Life at Knox College.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Illinois State University, a Master of Divinity degree from Iliff School of Theology, and a doctoral degree from Wesley Theological Seminary.

Pastor Monica is a strong advocate for social causes. She has served as Director of Social Justice Ministries for the Church Council of Greater Seattle and was the first-ever chaplain in the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. While serving as the pastor of Rainier Beach United Methodist Church in Seattle, she challenged the Boy Scouts of America after they removed a member of her congregation from his role as scoutmaster, due to his sexual orientation. Pastor Monica, her scoutmaster, and the troop of Rainier Beach United Methodist Church won that battle, and today local troops can have scoutmasters of their choice (regardless of gender or sexual orientation)… all thanks to a small church in a neighborhood sticking to their values.

Rev. Dr, Monica Corsaro can be seen walking at one of our many gorgeous green spaces or beaches and or at one of our many coffeeshops enjoying a cup of coffee and good conversation.
