Another COVID-19 Death in McDonough County

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported a fifth McDonough County resident has died from COVID-19.  The IDPH said the woman was in her 60s.

McDonough County has the most COVID-19 deaths reported in west central Illinois. Adams County has reported one death. No deaths are reported in any of west central Illinois’ other counties.

McDonough County is also the only county in west central Illinois where cases are confirmed at long term care facilities, according to the IDPH:

  • Heartland Health Care Center: 24 cases, 3 deaths
  • The Lamoine: 10 cases, 1 death
  • Mosaic: 7 cases, 0 deaths

The IDPH’s latest numbers on confirmed cases in west central Illinois by county:

  • Warren: 114
  • Knox: 94
  • McDonough: 83
  • Cass: 67
  • Adams: 44
  • Mason: 17
  • Hancock: 13
  • Fulton: 11
  • Schuyler: 10
  • Brown: 10
  • Henderson: 8

Iowa reported Louisa County continues to have the most confirmed cases in the southeast part of the state, largely due to an outbreak at a meatpacking plant:

  • Louisa County: 335 confirmed cases, 7 deaths
  • Henry County: 63 confirmed cases, 1 death
  • Des Moines County: 56 confirmed cases, 1 death
  • Lee County:  22 confirmed cases, 0 deaths
  • Van Buren County: 10 confirmed cases, 0 deaths

Missouricontinued to report relatively few cases in the northeast corner of the state:

  • Lewis County: 7 confirmed cases, 1 death
  • Scotland County: 4 confirmed cases, 0 deaths
  • Clark County: 1 confirmed case, 0 deaths
