Arrest Made in Fatal Burlington Shooting

An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting early Wednesday morning in Burlington.

The Burlington Police Department announced late Wednesday evening that Maurice Green, 43, of Burlington was taken into custody in Galesburg and charged with 1st Degree Murder in the death of Matthew Banks, 28, also of Burlington.
Officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street at 1:23 A.M on Wednesday.  Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found Banks, who had been shot several times.

Banks was transported to Great River Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Lt. Jeff Klein said Green was identified as a suspect in the shooting based on witness testimony and evidence at the scene.

Klein said Green will appear in court in Knox County, where authorities will begin the process of extraditing him back to Iowa.
