March is Women's History Month, which means all over the country museums, libraries, and art galleries are celebrating women's contributions  -- and locally you can find a special exhibit at the Art Center of Burlington.

Executive Director Tammy McCoy said eighteen women artists from all around southeast Iowa and western Illinois are featured. McCoy said there is a lot to see in the new exhibit -- which is called "A Woman's Perspective."

"We have a range from pottery to three-dimensional,  to oil, acrylic, drawings, colored pencils, photography,” she said. “We have a little bit of everything here."

McCoy said many of the pieces are for sale. She said most of the proceeds from sales go to the artist, and a portion of the money goes to the Art Center.

There is one exception: "Whimsical Bag, " a hand-painted piece, by local artist Carla Mundt, will be sold with 100% of the money going to the Art Center as a donation.

McCoy said the Art Center is trying to get back to normal, after months of being open limited hours and having fewer exhibits due to COVID-19. She said the Art Center has extended its hours and is now open from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The exhibit is free to view, but McCoy said wearing a mask and social distancing is required while in the gallery.
