Organizers for the Snake Alley Art Fair in Burlington say everything is on track to hold the annual event on June 20 this year. However, they're hoping more artists will apply for a booth.

Tammy McCoy, Director of the Art Center of Burlington (which hosts the Fair), said artist applications have been a little slow so far.

"We definitely want more applicants," McCoy said. She hopes people can "come out of hibernating and get (their) artwork out there."

McCoy said there is room for 80-100 artists to showcase their work. She said time is running out for artists to apply for a booth - the deadline is April 1.

McCoy said they'll select which applicants are admitted to the fair during a "jury process" on April 7. She said artists will be notified whether they were accepted soon after.

Last year's Snake Alley Art Fair was held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. McCoy said even though planning is underway for an in-person event this year, they will follow whatever guidelines the Center for Disease Control recommends for outdoor events when the third weekend of June rolls around.

McCoy said in addition to artist booths along Snake Alley, the fair will feature live music, an artist designed miniature golf course, and a tent for "kids to make some art."

McCoy said prior to the pandemic, the Snake Alley Art Fair attracted thousands of visitors and upwards of 80 artist booths each year.
