Radar image of the Friday evening storms

The emergency sirens blared for a brief period Friday evening in Macomb. McDonough ESDA said it sounded the sirens as a warning to seek shelter because of the size of the hail reported with an approaching storm.

The National Weather Service said it received reports of golf ball to tennis ball size hail around Plymouth, and hail of up to an inch was reported in Blandinsville and Fountain Green.

The NWS also received reports of hail of 1.5 to 2.5 inches around Burlington and one-inch hail in Donnellson.

The NWS reported thunderstorm wind damage at numerous locations, including Keokuk, Dallas City, Mount Sterling, and Plymouth.

And the agency reported heavy rainfall – 2.30 inches -- in Keokuk.

The NWS forecast said more rain is likely through the weekend.
