The McDonough County Sheriff's Department reported no one was seriously injured when a small plane crashed in Argyle Lake State Park near Colchester.

The sheriff’s department said the pilot, James Nixon, 75, of Dallas City, was treated for minor injuries.

The crash happened late Friday afternoon (May 15). Nixon told the sheriff’s department he ran out of fuel and crashed landed his Cessna 172M in a remote part of the park.

Rescue teams found him in a tree high off the ground.

The sheriff’s department said the Air Evac Lifeteam from Macomb assisted with the rescue as did the Illinois State Police, Illinois Conservation Police, and fire departments from Colchester, Macomb, Blandinsville, and Emmet Chalmers.
