The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of southeast Iowa; Clark and Scotland counties in northeast Missouri; and McDonough, Knox, Warren, Hancock, and Henderson counties in western Illinois until noon on Friday, February 5.
The weather service said snow is expected to fall for several hours and become heavy at times with several inches expected. Winds behind the front will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph during the afternoon and evening. Short-lived white out conditions have been reported along and just after the back end of the snow band in central Iowa. This threat will continue as the front moves into the area. Drifting snow will be a problem through Friday morning.

Galesburg canceled Thursday's meeting of the Community Relations Commission.
The Illini West High School District canceled all activities for Thursday evening.
The Keokuk School District will dismiss students early on Thursday. Middle and high school students will be dismissed at 1:00; elementary school students at 1:15. Students will bring home devices in case of a virtual education day on Friday.
The LaHarpe School District canceled Thursday night's activities.
The Macomb School District will do remote learning only.
The McDonough County Board canceled the Road & Bridge Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday night.
Southeastern Community College is closing all its sites at noon Thursday.
The West Burlington School District will dismiss students at 1:15 Thursday afternoon.
Western Illinois University issued a a weather advisory for its Macomb and Moline campuses from 9:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4 through noon, Friday, February 5. Both campuses will remain open and classes will be held.
