Police in West Burlington said the investigation continues into a fatal shooting that happened Sunday afternoon.
Police said they were called to Pat Klein Park in the 600 block of Swan Street on a report of shots fired. They found Owen Laird of Burlington, age 18, who had been shot. He was taken to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said a juvenile was taken into custody in connection with the investigation.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation with assistance from the police departments in West Burlington and Burlington, the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department, and the Iowa State Patrol.
