COVID’s lingering impact on newsrooms

RTDNA reported that its latest survey conducted with Newhouse School at Syracuse University found that two-thirds of TV newsrooms are still experiencing impacts from the COVID pandemic.

Budget cuts and staff sizes are among those impacts. In addition, about one-third still have some staff working remotely for the most part rather than from the newsroom.

Just 30% of TV news directors say that coronavirus is not having a major impact on their newsrooms anymore.

The story is different for radio. About two-thirds of radio stations anticipated no meaningful long-term changes due to COVID. Nearly 58% of radio stations reported their operations are pretty much back to normal.
