TIME announced that its paywall will come down on June 1. That will make the magazine’s current work and archival material available to anyone for free.
TIME CEO Jessica Sibley said, “We fundamentally believe that access to trusted information is a global imperative and should be available to all of humanity.”
TIME reaches a combined audience of more than 105 million around the world through its magazine and digital platforms. The publication said it has more than 1 million subscribers, making it the largest U.S. print title in news.
Shop Talk is a weekly panel discussion about journalism issues. The program features Will Buss, who teaches in the Department of Broadcasting and Journalism at Western Illinois University and advises the student editors at the Western Courier and the students at student radio station The Dog: Jessica Martin, who teaches in the Department of Broadcasting and Journalism at Western Illinois University and is news director of NEWS3-TV at WIU; and TSPR News Director Rich Egger.
