A survey done by RTDNA and Newhouse School at Syracuse University found more than two-thirds of TV news directors say staff burnout is worse now than it was one year ago.
Burnout was especially prevalent in the smallest markets, where 77% of those who responded said it was a problem.
The survey also found that employment is up in TV newsrooms. The growth mostly came in top 50 markets.
The size of radio newsrooms also increased, just slightly. The use of a centralized newsroom by multi-station groups has returned to numbers resembling pre-COVID years.
