A lawsuit filed by a former southeast Iowa police chief claims Lee County violated his constitutional rights by subjecting him to a strip search after his arrest in May 2015.

A former southeast Iowa police chief was found not guilty Wednesday afternoon of assaulting his wife in May, 2015. The jury of 3 men and 3 women deliberated for less than 45 minutes before returning the verdict in the trial of William "BJ" Sackett.

The trial for former Donnellson Police Chief William Sackett is now scheduled for Dec. 9 in the North Lee County Courthouse in Fort Madison. Sackett is accused of simple domestic abuse assault following an incident at his home in May.
