9:00 am Every Good Thing
Join Andrea Blain as she takes some time to give thanks and celebrate one of life's most meaningful gifts: music. It's "Every Good Thing” — an hour of stories and music to celebrate Thanksgiving.
About host Andrea Blain:
Andrea Blain was born and raised in the Midwest, but lived in Northern Ireland for 33 years, working as a freelance musician, teacher and journalist. She joined the BBC in 1998 and worked in various capacities in the areas of classical music, religion and ethics and current affairs. She plays violin, viola, piano and organ. A lifelong interest in orchestral and choral conducting has been the catalyst for her involvement over the years with a variety of ensembles including orchestras, choirs and theatre groups. She was an adjudicator for the Association of Irish Musical Societies and conductor of the Belfast Bach Consort. Being the only member of her string quartet, Avalon, prepared to talk to audiences about their Irish/Classical musical fusion led her eventually to a radio microphone, and she has never been far from a studio since then.

10:00 am Giving Thanks
No clichés about pilgrims and pumpkin pies. Instead, John Birge hosts a contemporary, thoughtful celebration of the spirit of the holiday. Whether you're up early in the kitchen, on the road to a family gathering, or relaxing after the feast, “Giving Thanks” provides the perfect atmosphere for the day: the warmth of great music, and truly memorable words.
About host John Birge:
John Birge is morning host on Classical Minnesota Public Radio, and host of APM’s Composers Datebook. He created Giving Thanks in 1999, last Thanksgiving it was heard on more than 400 public radio stations.
