Beekman wins Republican primary to face Halpin in State Senate District 36

A retired Illinois State Police Master Sergeant from McDonough County has won the Republican primary for State Senate District 36.

Brad Beekman won 53% of the vote in the district to beat Patrick Harlan, a fuel truck driver from Galesburg.

Beekman received 589 more votes than Harlan across the district, according to unofficial results.

Beekman will face Democrat Michael Halpin of Rock Island in the November general election.
