A McDonough County jury trial is scheduled to begin on July 29 for a man accused in a Macomb shooting death from more than two years ago.

Dylan Lovato, 25, of Beach Park is charged with four counts of murder.

He is accused in the shooting death of Ivan Almanza, 23, on March 9, 2022.

Prosecutors say Lovato drove to Macomb in the middle of the night from his home in northern Illinois, entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on North Charles Street, and shot Almanza while he slept in her bed.

Almanza was pronounced dead less than an hour later at McDonough District Hospital.

Lovato was arrested a short time later in Galesburg.

He has pleaded not guilty. He’s been in custody at the McDonough County Jail since his arrest.
