Doubet pleads not guilty in Maquon murder

Karen J. Doubet, 78, was arrested in October, two years after the decomposing remains of Richard Young were found in a Maquon storage unit.

She pleaded not guilty in Knox County court on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear again in March for a pre-trial conference.

Doubet is charged with murder, concealment of a homicide, and aggravated battery with a toxic substance.

Marcy L. Oglesby, 52, faces the same charges in the case, but she was arrested in February 2023.

The women are accused of poisoning Young with eye drops and other medication, then hiding his body in the storage unit.

Oglesby is scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing in January, and her trial could begin as early as February.
