The first art show of 2025 at Carl Sandburg College highlights creators of art — and books.
“Authors & Illustrators” is up through March 14 in the art gallery in building D on the Galesburg campus.
An opening reception will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
In addition to featuring pieces by local artists Larry Jon Davis, Nikki Ponce, Dusty Scott, and Jennie Taylor, the opening will include book signings for children and young adults by authors whose creations were illustrated by the artists.
Area authors slated to participate in the opening reception include Naomi Law (“The Adventures of Orie the Orpheum Mouse” and “Jump, Drew, Jump!”), Janet Pogue Tolle (“Silas the Great House Cat” and “Nellie and the Runaway Drone”) and Marie Smysor Watson (“The Things I Used to Do,” “Our Own Precious Places” and “Everything Anything Something Nothing”).
The show and reception are free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
