Heavy snow is expected in the tri states region on Wednesday.
A winter storm winter storm warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 3 a.m. Thursday in portions of west central Illinois, southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
The National Weather Service is now calling for total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected.
According to the NWS, travel could be very difficult with hazardous conditions impacting the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

School announcements
- Dallas City Elementary School District will be closed and evening activities are canceled.
- The West Prairie School District will be closed
- The Keokuk School District canceled classes.
- West Burlington schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. This is a non-traditional instruction day. Please follow guidelines that were sent by building principals in January.
- Mediapolis schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
- Central Lee CSD will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12 and will transition into a remote learning day. Instructional information will be sent by classroom teachers and/or building principals.
- Galesburg schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. All school activities are cancelled as well.
- Monmouth-Roseville will have an e-Learning day on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
- Burlington schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. There will be no childcare or after-school activities.
- All Sandburg locations will be closed Feb. 12 due to weather. Classes and activities for Wednesday are canceled.

- The Galesburg Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. You may still enjoy digital resources by visiting the library's website.

online databases: https://galesburglibrary.org/databases/ - Waste Management will begin all routes in Galesburg one hour early on Wednesday, Feb. 12. All refuse should be placed at the curb by 5 a.m.
- Jamieson Community Center in Monmouth will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. If you need to use the food pantry, Monmouth Resource Center will be open until 4 p.m. Tuesday.
- Due to the impending snowstorm, Mid-America Port Commission's CPB session scheduled for Feb.12 in Burlington, is cancelled. It will be rescheduled. The UMIMRA annual meeting at the same venue on Feb. 13 is also cancelled.
