Weather-related announcements for Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025

The entire region is under a cold weather advisory through noon on Tuesday, February 18.

The National Weather Service says dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero are possible. Weather conditions could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Due to the extreme cold, the YMCA Senior Center is cancelling home-delivered meals and congregate meals in Bushnell and Macomb.

School districts are also taking precautionary actions on Tuesday because of the forecast:

  • Dallas City ESD is closed.
  • West Prairie schools will have an e-learning day.
  • West Burlington schools will have a 10 a.m. start. There will be no morning preschool.
  • Burlington schools will start two hours late. There will be no morning preschool. Childcare will open at 8:30 a.m.
  • Mediapolis schools are on a two-hour delay.
  • The Macomb School District will run on a two-hour delay. There will ne no Early Bird PE, and MacArthur will have no morning session.
  • All Southeastern Community College locations will remain closed until 10 a.m.
  • The Central Lee School District will operate on a two-hour delay. There will be no morning activities or morning preschool. Hawks Place will open at 9 a.m.
  • The Keokuk School District will be closed.
  • The LaHarpe School District will be closed.
