Western Illinois University says visas for “a small number” of its international students have been revoked.

Western is not identifying the students, and the administration did not release a specific number of those affected.

It did say the current international student enrollment is 652.

In a statement, the administration said, “WIU supports our international students by providing information and resources, and any students with questions should contact the Center for Global Studies. The University is not able to provide any additional information in order to preserve student confidentiality and privacy.”

Capitol News Illinois reported the federal government has also revoked the visas of some international students at other universities across Illinois, but college officials are keeping details scarce, including the number of students impacted.

Illinois ranks fifth in the U.S. for international student enrollment.

The Trump administration has revoked the visas of hundreds of international students across the country.
