Sunday night’s storms brought a tornado, high winds, and heavy rainfall to the region.

The National Weather Service said cool air Sunday morning was replaced by warm, moist air in the afternoon, creating a slow-moving line of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall.

Trained spotters reported 2.1 inches of rain in Clark County and 1.5 inches in Lee County.

High winds accompanied the storms. Thunderstorm wind damage was reported in and near Macomb, as well as in Des Moines and Hancock counties.

A wind gust of 70 mph was recorded in McDonough County, and a 61 mph gust was recorded at the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport near Burlington.

At 8 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies reported seeing a tornado near Greenbush in eastern Warren County. No damage to structures was reported.
