Police say a Galesburg woman was killed in an apartment this spring.
The victim has been identified as Tricia M. Nichols, 49.
More than six weeks after Nichols was found unresponsive in the apartment at 191 N. Prairie St. and pronounced dead at the scene, a man has been arrested for her murder.
Gerald E. “Jerry” Fry Jr., 56, was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant for first-degree murder.
Knox County Coroner Jacque Dare said Nichols died of manual strangulation and multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.
Fry remains in custody at the Knox County jail.
Police had not previously announced the woman’s death was under investigation.
