Macomb woman charged in stabbing

Prosecutors are asking to deny pretrial release for Keianna Miller, 38, who’s accused of stabbing a man several times Friday morning.

Miller is charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

During a hearing Friday afternoon, Assistant State’s Attorney Susan Maxwell said Miller was in a relationship with Maurice Clay. They were together for a while Thursday night at his home in the 200 block of East Wheeler Street before he asked her to leave.

Clay said he awoke Friday morning to find Miller in the kitchen, removing items from his refrigerator and putting them in a bag.

He told prosecutors she then started stabbing him repeatedly with a steak knife. He suffered puncture wounds and lacerations to his back, chest, and left arm.

Police were called to the home at around 6:45 a.m.

Clay was taken to McDonough District Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Maxwell said Miller faces charges in a couple cases in Indiana, and said Macomb police had been called to Clay’s home two other times recently, once on May 25 and again on June 1. Both times Clay wanted Miller removed from the home.

Public Defender Scott Terry said he needed more time to prepare, and Benson agreed to continue the detention hearing to Monday, June 9.

Miller’s four-year old boy died in a police shooting during a domestic altercation in the 900 block of North Charles Street in Macomb in March 2024.

In that case, Miller suffered numerous stab wounds before police arrived on the scene.

The attacker, Anthony George, 57, was at the end of a hallway, about 20 feet away. He reached into a bedroom and grabbed the boy, Terrell Miller.

George was holding knives to the boy’s throat and stomach when Lt. Nick Goc fired one shot, which struck and killed both of them.

Two internal review panels absolved Goc, and the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor’s Office chose not to file charges in the case.
