‘See yourself’ in downtown Fort Madison’s vacant spaces

Bill Whittaker

The public is invited to explore the potential of downtown Fort Madison later this month with a self-guided tour of vacant properties.

The Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce has planned the “See Yourself Here” downtown property tour for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in conjunction with the Downtown Summer Market.

The tour is meant to showcase available commercial properties and give prospective tenants and investors the chance to envision a future in Fort Madison.

“This event is all about helping people picture what’s possible in our downtown,” said Savanna Collier, Executive Director of the Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. “Whether you’re ready to open a business or just curious about what’s available, this is a fun and welcoming way to explore our community’s potential.”

Participants will be able to:

  • Step inside vacant storefronts and commercial spaces
  • Discover the hidden potential behind some of downtown’s most iconic buildings
  • Receive information on zoning codes, building permits, and incentives available
  • Discover resources and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs

Volunteers and property owners or their representatives will be on hand to answer questions, provide tours, and share the stories behind these spaces. A list of participating properties will be posted on the Chamber’s Facebook page.

For more information, contact the Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce at (319) 372-5471 or chamber@fortmadison.com.
