Former Knox County jail administrator pleads not guilty

The former administrator of the Knox County jail has pleaded not guilty to seven felonies.

Louis A. Glossip, 46, appeared in Knox County court on Wednesday, waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and demanded a jury trial.

Glossip is accused of taking more than $135,000 from the jail commissary system for his personal use beginning in 2017, then falsely entering more than $214,000 to reconcile the commissary accounting system in 2023.

A judge also granted a defense motion to share discovery with Glossip, according to online court records.

He’s charged with three counts of theft, three counts of official misconduct, and one count of forgery.

Illinois State Police say they assisted the FBI with the investigation into Glossip after the Knox County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in October 2023.

The case was then presented to Knox County State’s Attorney Ashley Worby, who filed the charges on Feb. 27.
