Fort Madison seeks missing goose statue from Central Park fountain

Fort Madison is missing its goose statue. Have you seen it?

The Fort Madison Historic Preservation Commission is trying to track down a long-lost piece of local history — a goose statue that once served as part of a fountain in Central Park.

The artwork was damaged during a storm in the 1970s and later removed. Its whereabouts are now unknown.

The commission is hoping residents may know what happened to the statue or where it might have ended up.

Anyone with information, photos, or memories of the Central Park fountain or goose statue is asked to contact Fort Madison City Manager Laura Liegois at 319-372-7700, ext. 203, or by email at citymanager@fortmadison-ia.com.
