Western Illinois University President Kristi Mindrup’s contract runs through the end of June 2027.

But Board of Trustees Chairperson Polly Radosh said the board hopes she will be around for at least a bit longer than that.

“The board has had some preliminary discussions with Dr. Mindrup about contracts, an extension. We intend that we’re going to extend her contract, at least at this point, at least one more year,” Radosh said during Tuesday’s board meeting at the WIU Quad Cities campus.

“So, you can put off the thoughts of search committees and planning at least for one more year. After that, we’ll see.”

She said contract negotiations will probably begin in the fall.

Mindrup became interim president in April 2024. She was named president in December of that year, and an inauguration ceremony was held in October 2025.

She is the 13th president in WIU’s 127-year history and the first woman to lead the institution.

She previously served as Vice President for Quad Cities Campus Operations.
