Three employee groups at Western Illinois University have new contracts.

The agreements are with the Fraternal Order of Police, heating plant/mechanical maintenance workers, and landscape maintenance workers.

Each contract is for three years, with the same pay raises for each group in each year: 2.25% for the current year, retroactive to July 1; 2.5% next year; and 3% for the third year.

In addition, the heating plant/mechanical maintenance workers will receive a one-time $500 bonus, and the grounds equipment mechanic and grounds foreman will receive a one-time $1,000 bonus.

The contracts cover a total of about 50 employees.

The Board of Trustees approved the contracts on Friday. Each employee group had already ratified them.

Also during its meeting, the board agreed to spend about $55,000 to hire an outside firm, WittKieffer, to conduct the search for WIU’s new athletic director.
