McDonough District Hospital in Macomb has finalized the severance agreement with former President and CEO Bill Murdock.
The agreement pays Murdock $318,750, which is equivalent to 39 weeks of his base pay. He’s receiving the payments in bi-weekly installments of $16,346 over the course of 39 weeks.
Both parties signed the agreement on August 17.
Murdock replaced Brian Dietz, who was suspended with pay in December 2023 after hospital employees complained of a toxic work environment, reckless spending, and a 41% increase in their health insurance premiums without prior notice.
Dietz signed a separation agreement with MDH in February 2024 that paid him $325,000.
Murdock was previously vice president and chief financial officer for MDH, a role he began in April 2019. He was named interim CEO in December 2023, and the word interim was removed from his title five months later.
The MDH board announced the hospital was parting ways with Murdock in May of this year. He was given 60 days to transition out of the role.
The board hired a search firm in July to help the hospital find its next CEO.
Former Chief Nursing Officer Wanda Foster is serving as interim CEO. She’s being paid $33,000 per month.
Foster has said she is not interested in leading the hospital beyond the interim role, which she began in mid-July.
