A Galesburg woman is charged with attempted murder after a stabbing early Friday morning in the 500 block of Iowa Court.
Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:20 a.m. They found a 29-year-woman who was critically injured. The victim was taken to OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg and then life-flighted to a Peoria hospital.
The suspect, 29-year-old Destiny Denniston, fled the scene on foot but was apprehended in the 300 block of Ohio Avenue.
Denniston is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery in a public place, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Denniston is in custody at the Knox County jail.
The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed a petition to deny pretrial release.
