Warsaw Superintendent Stepping Down

School - Warsaw - Superintendent Doug DeSchepper - 500.jpg
Doug DeSchepper is stepping down as Warsaw School Superintendent to take a similar job in Orangeville, IL.

The Warsaw School Board accepted Superintendent Doug DeSchepper’s resignation earlier this week.  He has been with the school district since July 1, 2010.

DeSchepper says he is stepping down so he can assume the same role with the Orangeville School District on July 1, 2012.  Orangeville is located just a few miles south of the Wisconsin border, near Rockford, IL.

DeSchepper says he is stepping down for family reasons.  He says Orangeville is about 15 miles from the home where his family lives.

“That is the basic reason for going back,” says DeSchepper, “going back to be with my family.  It is a hard decision that I had to make, but it is in my family’s best interest because I have been away from home for two years.”

DeSchepper has been living in Warsaw while trying to sell his home in northern Illinois.  He says he did not have any luck, though, which is why his family remained in the home.

DeSchepper believes he is leaving the district in great shape.  He points to improved relationships between faculty, staff, administration and the community in general.

DeSchepper says he is also proud of negotiating a multi-year contract with Warsaw’s teachers.

The position of Warsaw Superintendent has been posted with the Illinois Education Job Bank through the Regional Office of Education for McDonough and Hancock Counties.  The application deadline is April 30, 2012 with the start date being July 1, 2012.

The qualifications required include the ability to interpret complex education and financial data to the board, staff and community and the ability to maximize financial resources and continually seek ways to best educate all grade levels in the district with those funds.

DeSchepper says the ROE #26 will review the applicants and present a list of candidates to the Warsaw School Board.
