Finalists for Tri States Public Radio GM

Interviews for the general manager position at Tri States Public Radio on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus will be held June 22, June 26 and June 28.  Current General Manager Dorie Vallillo will retire June 30.

Candidates include Sharon Faust, director of development, Tri States Public Radio; Jonathan Ahl, former news director at Iowa Public Radio (Des Moines); and Mike Savage, director and general manager of WKCC in Kankakee (IL).

Open sessions will be held for each candidate from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the University Union Cardinal Oak Room. Complete itineraries and vitae can be found on the Western Illinois University website.

Faust will interview Friday, June 22. She has served as director of development for Tri States Public Radio since February 1999. Previously, she was the director of education and administration at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago (1992-1998); administrative director of the Southeastern Music Center in Columbus, GA (1987-1992); and director of the creative arts program (1980-1982) and director of the creative arts program-off campus activities (1979-1980) at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music at Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA.

Faust received an artist diploma from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, her master's degree from the University of Iowa and her bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She also holds a certificate in fundraising management from The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Ahl will interview Tuesday, June 26. He served as news director for Iowa Public Radio from 2008-2012. Previously, he served as news director (1997-2008) and as a producer/reporter (1997-2000) at WCBU-FM in Peoria. Ahl has also served as a news reporter/anchor at WMBD-AM in Peoria (1996-1997); as a statehouse reporter/anchor for Illinois Public Radio/WUIS, Springfield (1995-1996); and as a reporter/announcer for WIUM-FM in Macomb (1994-1995).

Ahl received his master's degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield and his bachelor's degree from WIU.

Savage will interview Thursday, June 28. He has served as director and general manager at WKCC since March 2009. He is also an adjunct instructor at Kankakee Community College. Previously, he was the general manager of WNGM in Hiawassee, GA (2007-2009); the station manager (2006-2007) and senior staff reporter/producer (2001-2006) at WPPR Georgia Public Broadcasting in Atlanta (2006-2007); and the operations manager/producer at KPCW in Park City, UT (1999-2001).

Savage received his master's degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH and his bachelor's degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
