High School Will Add Bus Routes

Some students at Illini West High School will take different routes to school next fall.

The Dallas City and LaHarpe elementary districts will no longer transport high school students on their buses.

Those districts felt their students had to wait too long for the high school students to board at the end of the day.

Illini West Superintendent Kim Schilson says the district was prepared for the change.

She says, “We've planned for it. We've had a lot of help from the LaHarpe and Dallas elementary districts. And I think we're pretty well prepared for them. (New) bus drivers are running the routes and making sure we've got everything under control.”

The district has hired six new bus drivers and will lease six new buses.

Students who ride Carthage Elementary School buses will not be affected.
