Hamilton Chief Promotes Community Policing

Hamilton’s new police chief says his first few weeks in charge have been eye-opening.

Robb Bell assumed control of the department on July 1, following the retirement of former Police Chief Walt Sellens.

Bell has been in law enforcement for 12 years, the last seven with the Hamilton Police Department.

He appreciates how Sellens took the time to prepare him to be the man in charge.

Bell says some of his top priorities as chief are to combat the spread of drugs into the community and to make sure Hamilton’s children know the police department has their backs.

Bell says the community policing efforts will continue next month as his department and the Hamilton Fire Department will host the 2nd Annual Safety Expo on Saturday, Sept. 22.
