B-PC Interim Superintendent is Enjoying Stint

The interim superintendent for the Bushnell-Prairie City School District says the position is fun.

Bill Mattingly says there are a number of reasons including quickly developing a working relationship with the board.

He says, “The board seems to have a very clear understanding of role and they've been super-supportive and very accommodating. They have basically let me function within the role of which I'm supposed to function and I'm very appreciative of that.”

Like every school district in the state, B-PC faces financial challenges related to state funding. Mattingly says his job is to provide stability.

He says the district's financial shape makes his task easier since “it's been a well-managed district for a long time.”

He says the district can draw on “support from the community and its pride...The fact that it's a beautiful blend of agriculture and industry.”

Mattingly will serve through the first semester. He last served as a superintendent with the Oregon School District before his retirement.
