The Keokuk Police Department does not want to release information pertaining to a sexual abuse lawsuit against the Keokuk School District.
The attorney for a woman identified only as Jane Doe II wants all relevant documents from certain investigations involving Gina Sisk by Friday, June 7.
Jane Doe II claims, in her lawsuit, that she was sexually abused as a student by Sisk several years ago.
The Keokuk School Board recently accepted Sisk’s resignation as a teacher and coach, effective at the end of the current school year.
Lee County Attorney Mike Short has filed a motion in district court to block the subpoena.
The filing states there is one record involving Sisk and possibly Jane Doe II from 2009.
Short says the statute of limitations on the incident has not expired, though, so the file could be re-opened as a result of the lawsuit.
He says that is why the information should be exempt from the subpoena.
District Judge John Linn has scheduled a hearing for Monday, June 17 to determine whether the Keokuk Police Department will have to honor the subpoena.
Sisk is facing similar lawsuits in Henry County. She previously worked in the New London School District.
