Up Close and Personal with Molly Sweeney

Starry Night Repertory Theatre

The audience will be right on top of the actors for the Starry Night Repertory Theatre’s production of Molly Sweeney.

The drama will be performed at the Old Bailey House in Macomb, which has seating for just 25 people per performance.

We've always had an affection for the script, but it was a matter of finding the right actors to do it.

“We’re finding that what’s happening is that the emotional connection between the audience and the actors is so profound,” said actor Dan Woods.

Fellow actor Kenny Kendall added, “The intimacy is incredible. And it’s something you’re not going to see in Chicago and something you’re not going to see in a film. This is a unique opportunity for the folks of Macomb.”

Woods and Kendall will be joined in the production by Rebecca Bean, who will star in the title role.

Woods said he was drawn to Molly Sweeney when he saw a production about 15 years ago with his wife (Jeannie Woods, who will direct the production).

“It was a very poignant evening of theatre,” said Dan Woods. “We’ve always had an affection for the script but it was a matter of finding the right actors to do it.”

Molly Sweeney will be performed Friday, November 1, Saturday, November 2, Thursday, November 7, and Friday, November 8. Each performance begins at 7:30 pm.

General admission tickets are $20. Tickets are $15 for senior citizens age 62 and older, and students are charged just $10. Reservations can be made and other information can be found on the Starry Night Repertory Theatre website.
