Memory Care Facility Coming to Hancock County

Hickory Grove Supportive Living Facility

A new memory care facility will be built in Carthage.  It will feature 20 studio apartments that have access to shared kitchen, living room and dining space.

Ada Bair with Hancock County Senior Services said the facility will accommodate individuals experiencing memory loss at any age.

"So it isn’t just about individuals with one of the forms of dimension," Bair said. "It could be someone who has cognitive issues related to a previous stroke, for example.”

The facility will be called Maple Grove Memory Care. It carries a more than $4.5 million price tag.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture is loaning $2.2 million.
  • Western Illinois Electric Cooperative is contributing an 10-year interest free loan grant worth $1.36 million.
  • Hancock County Senior Services is providing $1.2 million.

Bair said construction of the facility will begin soon and should be completed by next spring.
She says 14 of the 20 apartments have already been reserved.
